Today in architecture we had a lot of fun, we started the day by working on our sketches of the fancy pillars. Then we moved on to talking about our brochures. But we were rudely interrupted by a fire drill. When we got back we finished talking about the brochure. Then we moved to the computers to start digitizing them. We work on that for the rest of class We began class today by working on our pillars sketchbook assignment. We then continued our discussion from yesterday's class about the importance of sales pitches and split the class in half to brainstorm rubric ideas for a brochure and for a presentation. For the remainder of class time, we made rough drafts of possible brochures for our "nature inspired" buildings that we designed.
Quote of the day: "Architecture is a graphic form of communication"-Mr.Walker Today we had our first warm-up. We need to sketch an elaborate ladder+chair composition.
After our lovely sketching we moved onto a 2 minute brainstorm sketch of objects found in nature. That object was going to be the inspiration for our Biomimetic paper structure. We designed everything from snake-like buildings to pumpkin inspired stadiums. Overall today was a nice introduction to the design aspects of the class. Today was the first day of school and the first time we have all been in the ARL building. Once we began class, we immediately were introduced to our teacher Mr.Walker and we started to talk about the class rules. We then received handouts that we need to sign and bring back by tomorrow. We were informed of some of the projects that we will be doing in class and we were able to see past projects completed by architecture students. We then had to build a tower that could hold the weight of a tennis ball. You had 10 index cards and tape that you could use. The tallest tower was the tower that won. |
