Yesterday in class we started off finishing up our PowerPoint brochures. When everybody started to finish up their brochures everyone had to print out three copies of their brochure. Two of the copies were for the class to comment on, and the other was for you to present with. After everybody finished all their printing people started to present their brochures. There was about four people who got the chance to present. There was no more time for more presentations because after that the bell rung, and it was time to go.
During today's class students were given the time to evaluate their performance from the previous day. During the opening part of the class they discussed what went wrong during the performance part of the day before. They decided that they needed better training prior to starting the exercise. Secondly to resolve some of the organizational issues that occurred they decided to reorganize the layout of the stations. These changes proved to be extremely valuable as the ARL Aggie Boat company began their assemble of the Aggie Boats.
What a success! Both of the changes were extremely effective. Students told about 5 minutes to train each other how to assemble the Aggie Boats correctly. This minimized the amount of incorrectly constructed Aggie Boats. The workflow also was streamlined with the re-organization of the assemble stations. The cost for of the Aggie Boats this round was significantly lower, thus providing the evidence of successful modifications. Today we started our two day adventure with Mr. Tom Templeton. We began our day with defining the word quality. The class then chose jobs for the Aggie Boat Training. Once we were assigned jobs we were split into two groups by and determined what were effective and ineffective qualities in the work place. The class got extremely intense as we began our Aggie boat training/project. As a class we didn't exactly meet to quota or maintain quality and ended up with over $10,000 of lost profit.
In the last picture you can see that everyone was working at such and intense pace that the camera couldn't even focus. Today the students of the Architectural design academy continued the process of making their brochures. The brochures are for helping them sell their building design. Most students worked on the brochure all class while others made their design the bes...
Today in architecture we had a lot of fun, we started the day by working on our sketches of the fancy pillars. Then we moved on to talking about our brochures. But we were rudely interrupted by a fire drill. When we got back we finished talking about the brochure. Then we moved to the computers to start digitizing them. We work on that for the rest of class We began class today by working on our pillars sketchbook assignment. We then continued our discussion from yesterday's class about the importance of sales pitches and split the class in half to brainstorm rubric ideas for a brochure and for a presentation. For the remainder of class time, we made rough drafts of possible brochures for our "nature inspired" buildings that we designed.
